The closest attraction to Hong Kong Airport is Big Buddha
Normally a lot of layover travelers want to take the chance to go sightseeing when they have the Hong Kong layover.
As they are not familiar with Hong Kong, they may just want to visit the highlight near the Hong Kong Airport when they tour it yourselves (TIY).
So layover travelers’ frequently asked question (FAQ) in the emails to Frank the tour guide is: What is the closest attraction to Hong Kong Airport?
Made in Hong Kong Frank the tour guide’s answer is Big Buddha!
Big Buddha is at the hilltop at Ngong Ping on Lantau Island.
Lantau Island is right next to the airport island, Chek Lap Kok.
Most of the layover travelers have no time and energy to spend one day to walk up to the Big Buddha.
Most online travel guides recommend the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car ride to layover travelers to go to Ngong Ping.
However, the online information cannot help the layover travelers to solve the biggest trouble, long queue and big crowds at the Tung Chung Cable Car Terminus.
Frank’s easy Lantau Island half day private tour can help layover clients to dodge the crowds.
5: “Having Frank as our personal guide on this tour made all the difference…”

5Review: Having Frank as our personal guide on this tour made all the difference, he had a Lantau Island blue taxi waiting for us in the morning so we did not have to line up for one to take us to the top of the mountain. We were also one of the first groups up at the Big Buddha so it was not busy at all. The ride on the gondola back was a highlight with great views and once again as we were in front of most of the groups we did not have to line up at all to get on. We had a great time. Frank’s response: Thank you for your five stars rating again, Luke! Using Lantau taxi to go up to the Big Buddha and take the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car to downhill is the best way to visit the Lantau Island. So the 4-hour Lantau Island Big Buddha private car tour helps you to dodge the big crowds and offers you the panoramic scenic view of Lantau Island. (Message Frank to plan YOUR private tour) |
So layover clients can say hello to Big Buddha, visit Po Lin Monastery and take the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car ride easily.

If layover travelers have the longer stopover in Hong Kong, they can actually go further afield.
Victoria Peak on Hong Kong Island with good Victoria Harbor view and Kam Shan Country Park in the New Territories with nice natural landscape and funny monkeys are well worth a visit.
However that is time consuming for layover travelers to take the Airport Express train and the MTR to go to those sightseeing points.
Frank’s well-planned, all-inclusive and top-rated Hong Kong layover private tour and full day private tour by private car can help layover clients to use the valuable sightseeing time efficiently.
